The First Grader (2010)
“The First Grader” is a 2010 biographical drama film directed by Justin Chadwick. This film is based on the true story following the Kenyan government’s announcement of free universal primary education in 2003, of 84 year-old Kimani Maruge, a Kenyan villager and ex Mau Mau veteran fights for his right to go to school for the first time to get the education he could never afford. He joined class of 6 year-olds. Together he and his young teacher face fierce resistance, but ultimately they win through.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003)
Adventuress Lara Croft goes on a quest to save the mythical Pandora’s Box before an evil scientist and recruits a former Marine turned mercenary to assist her. Filming lasted for three and a half months, which included a two-week stint in Kenya for shooting at Amboseli and Hell’s Gate.
The Constant Gardener (2005)
The film tells the story of a widower is determined to get to the bottom of a potentially explosive secret involving his wife’s murder, big business, and corporate corruption. This is one of the most amazing Hollywood films shot in Kenya. It was filmed on location in Loiyangalani and the slums of Kibera, a section of Nairobi, Kenya.
Born to Be Wild (2011)
Born to Be Wild is a 2011 American nature documentary short film. This heartwarming film documents orphaned orangutang and elephants, and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them-saving endangered species one life at a time.
Paradise Love (2012)
Paradise Love is a 2012 Austrain drama film directed by Ulrich Seidl. It tells the story of a white woman who travels to Kenya as a sex tourist. Teresa, a 50-year-old Austrian mother, travels to the paradise of the beaches of Kenya, seeking out love from African boys. However, she must confront the hard truth that on those shorelines, love is a business. The team traveled in Kenya for two years looking for the right locations.
