Amapiano hit Nigeria like a pandemic, spreading from the streets and streaming playlists and hitting Nigeria big by December 2020. Characterized by the signature shakers, airy pads, percussive basslines and a feel-good rhythm, the emerging South African house music movement has taken Nigeria, and rest of the continent by storm. The sound has found so many followers in Nigeria – widening its cultural audience, with Nigerian artists continuing this musical movement with afrobeats influences. You either love the sound or hate it, one thing for certain there’s no denying that there is a sense of freedom in the music. When an Amapiano song comes on, it gets directly under the skin and the rhythm moves body and souls just by itself.
