Despite Zambia being one of the best safari destinations in Africa, Lusaka is still not high on Zambia’s list of major attractions. Lusaka is the nation’s capital and largest urban zone. Yet, it boasts of no real attractions. Without no modern and vibrant architectures, the city still offer a genuine African feel to create an authentic adventure. Here are some lesser-known Lusaka buildings, a few of the local gems to see you through.

Findeco House
The Findeco House construction began in 1971, and was completed in 1974. Located at the Sapele Avenue in the Central Business District of the city. The building original owners were the State Finance and Development Corporation Limited (Findeco Limited). This is the tallest building in Lusaka and Zambia. An iconic landmark of the city, and can be seen from numerous locations within Lusaka.
Child Jesus Cathedral
Located right near the Pope Square and Lusaka airport. This is the Cathedral of Lusaka, and functions as the headquarters of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lusaka. In May 1989, Pope John Paul II celebrated mass at the then open field, which is now where the church has been erected. The Pope also blessed the foundation stone of the building. The Cathedral was officially dedicated at a ceremony in April, 2006.
University of Zambia
Located on the Great East Road, about 7 km from Lusaka City. Officially opened to the public in 1966, it is Zambia’s largest learning institution, and the nation’s oldest public university. UNZA has 2 urban campuses, the Great East Road Campus and the Ridgeway Campus.
Lusaka National Museum
A real discovery hub within the capital city, the doors that seem to showcase the present from the past. The museum was opened in 1996, displaying exhibits on Zambia’s urban culture and history. This building will leave you in awe to see what many cultures and artifacts Zambia has to offer.
National Heroes Stadium
Zambia spent almost $100m building this multi-purpose stadium in Lusaka, from 2011 to 2014. The name “National Heroes Stadium”, refers to the 1993 Zambia national football team air disaster which took the lives of most of its national football team. Newly built with modern facilities, the stadium holds 60,000 spectators. Great place to watch world class soccer games!
